At the last minute, the first face-to-face sessions for our Spring 2015 semester had to be canceled due to inclement weather. What to do about missing four hours of instruction? One of our
instructors, who teaches the Introduction to Educational Technology course, decided to, well, use technology to address the problem. He quickly set up a webinar using software from zoom.us and managed to get practically the entire class online during the scheduled class on Saturday morning , where many of the activities that were planned for the face-to-face session were able to be completed

Students greatly appreciated the new plan to salvage their first session as a group. Here’s what a few students had to say about the experience:
“I liked using Zoom. I thought it was a great way to see how technology can really bring people together despite not being together in the same room.”
“I thought the entire webinar was fantastic! I had never participated in one previously and it was a great experience for me! I learned a lot about many of the technology uses available to teachers!”
The experience provided CES students with a great, real-life example of the use of technology in education.
