Thinking about taking an educator licensure course this fall? The Collaborative’s fall 2014 semester begins on September 17th for most courses, with a registration deadline of Saturday, September 6th. That’s just over a week away!
If you aren’t sure where you’d like to begin, you might consider a course that is shared by both the Reading Specialist and Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities programs, two very high need licensure areas.
Assessment for Reading Instruction covers a broad range of reading instruction techniques including the GRADE, TERRA NOVA, DIBELS, Fountas and Pinnell, and DRA assessment tools used to assess reading and phonemic development. The course will help teachers combine assessment data with both MCAS preparation and the ELA Curriculum Frameworks. Familiarity with these systems is essential in today’s reading and special education instruction. Face-to-face classes are held in both Holyoke and Marlborough.
