Student Survey Session in Hadley

December 1, 2013 by Damon Douglas

  • My teacher wants me to explain my answers – why I think what I think.
  • In this class, we learn to correct our mistakes.

The above survey items come from the Tripod Project, one of at least four sources DESE is accessing to assemble surveys for grades 1-12. The surveys will be piloted this winter and rolled out in all districts in the fall of 2014.

At the Hadley working session, participants sorted survey items into three categories based on the item’s usefulness and alignment to specific elements in the teacher performance rubric. I was impressed that project leaders had identified survey items that align with each of eleven elements in Standard II (Teaching All Students/Instruction).
