TURNERS FALLS, MA — Shawn Rickan of Phillipston is to take over for Franklin County Technical School Principal and Assistant Superintendent Richard Martin when Martin moves into the superintendent’s office in July.
Now a high school principal in Baldwinville, Rickan earlier worked in Orange for five years and is an Athol High School graduate.
Superintendent James Laverty, who will retire this summer, announced Rickan’s selection and appointment at Wednesday’s meeting of the Franklin County Technical School Committee.
The 19-town regional vocational school teaches grades 9-12 and has a principal and a superintendent under the same roof.
The principal is responsible for the interior business of running a school, the superintendent for the exterior business of running a regional school district.
