BOSTON, MA – Facing a possible question on the November 2016 statewide ballot pushed by Gov. Charlie Baker that lifts the cap on charter schools, the State Senate will attempt to craft a charter reform bill, Senate President Stanley Rosenberg said Wednesday.

“Everything will be on the table, even some things maybe that don’t have directly to do with charter schools, because after all, the whole point is that every child in Massachusetts should get a quality education,” Rosenberg said. “And so charter schools is only one group of students.”

Baker, a Swampscott Republican, has filed a bill lifting the cap on charter schools in the Bay State, as charter advocates have launched a campaign to place a question lifting the cap on the November 2016 ballot.

Rosenberg, an Amherst Democrat, said the ballot question isn’t focused on reform but on creating more charters.
